Our Interview with Blueprint
Columbus, Ohio based rapper Blueprint is no stranger to the world and business of underground hip-hop. In addition to collaborations with artists such as Vast Aire of Cannibal Ox, Mr. Lif, Slug of Atmosphere, Aesop Rock, RJD2 and Illogic; he also writes regularly on his blog at Printmatic.Net which is appropriately subtitled, “The Music & Adventures of Blueprint”. He’s produced and released his own records, along with the works of Illogic under his label Weightless, and is also currently signed to Minneapolis-based hip-hop label Rhymesayers Entertainment.
Blueprint has made appearances, and even toured, with the now defunct annual hip-hop festival Scribble Jam. Blueprint is definitely a busy man; having released Deleted Scenes in 2012 and finishing up another collaboration album with Illogic as Greenhouse Effect, which will see a summer release and tour. In February, he went on a Florida run, the Deleted Scenes tour, which made a stop here in Miami at the Catalyst. The free show featured local openers King Konfident, Seven Star, and Soarse Spoken. After his set, we had a chance to speak to Blueprint and asked him a few questions that range from early influences to plans for the future.
Last month I had the chance to interview Blueprint. Here’s how it went.
